POEM
GOD MADE A LITTLE GIRL FOR DADDY
Daddy needs a little girl
For
many, many things,
Like holding her high Where
the sunlight sings,
Like saying in a comforting
voice
He will be near, all is right
When
she awakens in frantic dreams of night.
Like being a great guide that raises her heart,
And tells her how to get
home
When everything else falls apart.
For
giving her love that is her air,
For diving deep or soaring high
God took the strength of a mountain,
The
majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun, The
calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of
nature,
And put her on his knee.
The wisdom of the ages, The
power of the eagle’s flight,
The faith of a mustard
seed,
The patience of eternity,
And
put her
On his knee.
That’s why God makes little
girls
The
depth of daddy’s needs,
When there was nothing more to add, His
masterpiece complete,
God put a little
girl
On daddy’s knee.
