Arbor Day
Nearly 150
years ago, or more exactly, in the year 1872, the State of Nebraska set aside a
day for the planting of trees. Presently, over 30 countries celebrate a
tree care day. A brand new tree is
planted which may become a mighty oak.
Families are invited to celebrate Arbor Day
with special Arbor Day programs for children, all ages,and their families everywhere It is Arbor Day, the tree day,
April 30, 2011 when, crowds of our county’s children come together, and adults too, to plant new trees.
At the Ogden
Nature Center in Ogden Utah families are invited this year to Celebrate Arbor
Day with special Arbor Day programs for children, all ages, and
their families, to be educated on the many species of trees, stages in the life of a trees, identification,
and the different way humans and wildlife intertwine with trees. Check-in
9 a.m... The day’s events include Take
a walking tour. There will be a tree care demonstration and participants will be invited to
take an active role in helping the environment by planting native trees, shrubs or grasses. As part
of the Nature Center’s habitat regeneration efforts to restore native trees and plants. children’s
poster contest, exhibits and activities. A children’s poster contest, a parade, exhibits and activities.
Businesses such as Valley View Nursery, Davey, Arbor Artists and The Care of Trees will be on hand
to teach proper tree-care techniques.
Children can construct wooden crafts provided by Home Depot.
Other events will include a tree climb with a harness, an adventure through a soil tunnel and a
free lunch that’s tree-tabular by the Marriott Hotel.

hazy purple sky. 2nd Place: Marc Sagan of South Ogden took the runner-up award with a daytime shot of
a sprawling tee in the Middle Fork of the Ogden River. 3rd Place: I took but they made me
give it back.
