A TOAST TO BETTER TIMES
The year has been a curse,
Adding up the fears so many,
There’s a lot that is best forgotten.
Let’s raise a glass to better times.
Bush is gone at last, now replaced
by Gore, J.P. Morgan, sub-prime loans
and Madoff’s crimes.
Crisis has become the norm, with
N.Y. storms, education,
and Iran.
Congress may vote to raise taxes,
Don't hold your
breath for tax reform,
The Democrats have lost some seats,
Despite their legislative feats.
Possibly along the way they,
May acquire more
vertebrae,
Can Obama restrict the filibuster often
Used in fights to save the
South and Civil Rights?
The Republican empire lies in
shards,
Who knows what's hidden in the cards?
The losing outside candidates expect respect.
Let’s raise a glass to better times
Attention wavered with the tragic news about
Whitney Huston’s accidental drowning in a bath
Just before she performed at the Grammy Awards in February.
Let’s all raise a glass to better times.
Do not bet for any reason
On a stellar football season.
The NFL once again wants
Bigger salaries for its big shoes men.
Football otherwise has been fun so far this season,
Utah’s fans are cheering the
quarter back again this
year.
Utah State and BYU
too are doing well.
Football turned back the clock at Weber State
When Ron McBride retired a while back.
John Smith returned to be head coach
Now things are going from bad to worse.
Baseball is a different story; it’s brought Weber State
A lot of glory. They can bat, they hustle too
Coach Sounders' start was heady
Thanks to Kasey and to Stacy.
The girls wrestling teams in all the schools had
A record-breaking
year when they wrestled
In their shorts, a sign of the spirit of the times.
Let’s all raise a glass to better times.
