ADVICE TO MY READERS DON’T BUY A HOT WATER BOTTLE AT WAL-MART

This is a true and a very embarrassing story indeed, that occurred during the 5:30 pm rush hour.

Far back in the North East corner of the Wal-Mart Pharmacy store on Riverdale Road are stored  things that are seldom sold. One of things is a hot water bottle. Few people know what a hot water bottle is, or for that matter what its purpose is, except possibly a few very senior citizens, like me.
Many years ago during the Depression, Grandmaw's filled rubber hot water bottles with boiling water heated from a wood burning stove situated in the middle of the room. She would put the hot water bottle at the foot of the bed on cold winter nights, when it was time to go to bed so as to help warm the cold bed located in a room without a stove, tuck you in with homemade quilts, kiss you good night, and say a prayer.

Well one fine day I bought  a hot water bottle at the Pharmacy $10.00 no tax added, and told to pay at the checkout which I did. As I walked out the door an alarm went off and a security guard stopped me.

“Do you mind if I check your cart?” (Because Walmart does not inventory these seldom sold items they are not recorded in thein the register when you check out

People walking buy were staring at me, and the items in my shopping cart. I hid my head as best I could. Contents in shopping cart were prunes, wheat bread, milk-puffs, Milax for constipation, 5 Hersey chocolate bars. Then he said,

“Oh you like chocolate haw haw haw,” smiling happily over my humiliating experience. Finally a hot water bottle.

“You can leave now. Have a good day.”

I walked away without a word still hunched over.

Sometime later I was in the same store with my cell phone camera so I could get a picture and make a report to the manager, but I didn’t see the above named around.

A little later maybe two weeks, I was thinking about the lady in the pharmacy. I’d like to tell her the problems I had had. I didn't see her around either but I did notice several signs, "We lower prices every day," Which caused me to wonder briefly, how come if you lower prices every day, they don't get down to free?

Additionally, I would recommend my readers go to Walgreens if they are looking to buy a deluxe rubber hot water bottle.
