A TOAST
Let’s all raise a glass to better times.
The past year was a curse,
Adding up the fears so many,
Has a lot that is best forgotten.
Bush and Gore, Enron,
Sub-prime loans, and Madoff’s crimes.
Crisis has become the norm,
Don't hold your breath for tax reform,
Congress may vote to raise your taxes,
Fix the schools, help Sandy Storm people too,
When the where-with-all can be found.
The Democrats have lost some seats,
Despite their legislative feats,
But possibly along the way they,
May acquire more vertebrae or,
Will they succumb to red state bluster?
Will Obama restrict the filibuster,
Used in Fights to save the South from civil rights,
The Republican empire lies in shards,
Who knows what's hidden in the cards?
The losing outside candidates expect respect.
Do not bet for any reason
On a stellar basketball season.
The NBA will once again
In 213, want bigger salaries
for its tall big shoes men .
Baseball is a different story;
It’s brought Weber State a lot of glory.
They can bat they hustle too
Coach Sounders' start was heady
Thanks to Kasey and to Stacy
Football turned back the clock at Weber State
When Ron McBride retired last season,
Then John Smith returned to be head coach
And went to bad as coaching got worse
Lets all drink to better times.
Football otherwise has been fun,
Utah did pretty good their fans will
Cheer the quarter back next year.
Utah State and BYU did very well T
The girls wrestling teams in all the schools
Did quite well when they wrestled in their shorts.
Let’s all raise a glass to better times.
