SING A SONG poem

SING A SONG FOR A CHERRY TREE

An old banana squash once said,
“Come let's plant a cherry tree,                       We’ll use a spade, make wide its hollow bed                                                            Where we plant the cherry tree.

We’ll cover over the roots with earth.                                                                                                                                     The lovely work of nature will bring                                                                              Birds  to sing in its greening leaves,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Sing a song  for a cherry tree.
We’ll plant the tree on the edge of town                                                                                                                                                                           On a  height where  a stream                                                                                                                                                                             omes  tumbling down, where                                                                                                                               Bluebirds sing and play.

Where rain is coaxed from flying clouds                                                                                                                               Till everything is clean and fresh.                                                                                                                                   Where any squash from all around                                                                                                                                                                Will see a cherry tree wake up.

It will throw the winter aside,  then                                                                                                                                              Stretch for a climb to the sky,                             Come, sing a song for a cherry tree                                                                                                                                                                   Any day will do.”
